Corinne Kamiya:
Corinne received a B.F.A. from the University of Hawaii (UH) in 2004
and is currently pursuing a M.F.A. at the Massachusetts College of Art (Boston). She has
received awards from the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as an
Outstanding Student in Sculpture from UH. Kamiya was also the recipient of the John Young
Scholarship and the Massachusetts College of Art Graduate Scholarship. Her work has been
exhibited at institutions such as the Honolulu Academy of Arts, the ARTS at Marks Garage and
the Doran Gallery in Boston.
Corinne was recently chosen as
the 2009 Ellen Choy Craig award winner.

Jeeun Kim: Jeeun Kim graduated with a M.F.A. in Fiber Art from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1999 and also obtained a M.F.A. in Textiles at the Ewha Woman?s University in Seoul, Korea in 1992. She is a recipient of the Baciu Visual Arts Award from the Honolulu Academy of Arts in 2005 and numerous scholarship awards such as the Hawaii Hand Weaver?s Hui and Center for Korean Studies. Exhibiting works as far as Australia and Italy, Kim has also participated in numerous exhibitions in Honolulu and East Coast. Kim?s work is present in the collections of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Kim is currently a full-time instuctor at Kyungsung University in Busan, Korea. (Honolulu).

Mat Kubo: Mat Kubo received a B.F.A. from the University of Hawaii in 2005 where he
was named and Outstanding Undergraduate Student within the Sculpture Program. He has also
earned two awards for work presented at the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce’s annual
exhibitions and was a recipient of the John Young Scholarship for the Arts. Kubo’s art has
been exhibited at institutions such as the Hawaii State Art Museum, Nuuanu Gallery, the ARTS
at Marks Garage and the Academy Art Center at Linekona and the Doran Gallery (Boston). Kubo
has also been featured in publications such as the Honolulu Advertiser, Star-Bulletin and
Weekly.

Sanit
Khewhok was born in Trang, Thailand in 1944. He received a BFA in painting,
sculpture and printmaking from Silpakorn University, Bangkok in 1969 and degrees in
painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy and restoration techniques from
the International Center for the Study of Cultural Property in Rome. From 1975-1986 he
was curator of modern art and associate director of The National Gallery in Bangkok. He
has been a resident of Honolulu since 1986 and served as collections manager of The
Contemporary Museum from 1987-2007. His works have been exhibited at the Honolulu
Academy of Arts, The Contemporary Museum and the Hawaii State Art Museum in Honolulu as
well as venues in mainland United State, Asia and Europe.

Stephen Lang: Stephen Lang was born in Fresno, California in 1947. Attending the
University of California in Los Angeles, he earned a B.F.A. degree in 1970 and several years
later, moved to the island of Hawaii. He has received numerous awards at exhibitions held at
East Hawaii Cultural Center and Wailoa Center in Hilo. His works have also been presented at
the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art and The Lab Gallery (New York). Lang’s art belongs to the
collections of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts as well as that of the
Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art.

Hal Lum: Hal Lum attended the College of San Mateo (California) and the University of Hawaii, Manoa where he earned a B.F.A. in 1967. Receiving a M.F.A. in Sculpture from California State University, San Francisco in 1970, Lum?s art has been exhibited at numerous shows in Hawaii as well as in New York City, Lum is a recent recipient of the Honolulu Academy of Art?s Cynthia Ayre Award and his artwork can be found within the collections of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and Arts and Gima?s Art Gallery of the College of San Mateo. Lum has worked as the Gallery Director of Leeward Community College?s Foyer Gallery (Pearl City, Hawaii), as a former Art Juror and Advisor at the University of Hawaii. Mark Maresca: Mark Maresca earned a B.A. in Painting from Gonzaga University in 1993
and an M.F.A in the same discipline from the University of Hawai’i in 2007. Maresca has
received awards from the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and the State Foundation on
Culture and the Arts. Exhibiting his works at venues such as the Honolulu Academy of Arts and
thirtyninehotel (Honolulu) as well as in New York at the Roger Smith Lab Gallery. Maresca also
has experience as an Art Teacher and taught at the Academy of the Pacific (Honolulu).

Wayne Miyamoto: A highly decorated artist, Wayne Miyamoto has earned numerous awards
from prestigious institutions such as the Portland Art Museum (Oregon), the Knoxville Museum
of Art (Tennessee), the National Society of Arts and Letters (Shreveport, Louisiana) and the
Honolulu Academy of Arts. Miyamoto’s artwork has been presented at many solo and group
exhibitions both domestically and abroad at venues in countries such as Australia, China,
Egypt, Poland, India and Bulgaria. Miyamoto’s art belongs to a diverse range of public
collections such as the National Fine Arts Museum (Hanoi, Vietnam), the National Museum of Art
(Cluj-Napoca, Romania), The Fine Arts Museum of the University of Alaska and the University of
Arizona’s Museum of Art. Miyamoto has been very active in his participation with lectures,
conferences, panels, juries, committees and artist residency programs. Miyamoto has also
authored and edited many publications ranging from articles in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin to
exhibition catalogues. Miyamoto currently serves as Chair of the Art Department and Professor
of Art at the University of Hawaii, Hilo.

Tom Sewell: Tom Sewell (b. 1939) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He worked in window display and for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. He attended Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and operated the Bottega Gallery in the early 60's. He was mentored by Marcel Duchamp. Sewell moved to California and became part of the Venice art scene for 25 years. He created Main Magazine featuring art, architecture, and photography. He currently lives and works in Haiku, Maui, with photographic and video media, and is a frequent participant in Art Maui. He created a one-man installation at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's Schaefer International Gallery in 2006 using 6 sony video projectors projected on a screen 18 feet high and 104 feet across. The work, "The Enigma of the Mill," celebrated the art of industry. Sewell received an award from the United Nations' Society of Artists and Writers for "Enigma" and his mixed-media piece, "I can no longer remain Silent,"which is an anti-war piece rejected by Art Maui.

Bruna Stude: Bruna Stude was born on the shores of the Dalmation Coast and graduated
from the Law University in Split, Croatia. After working for years as a newspaper and radio
reporter, she left Croatia in 1987 and found herself working as a freelance artist and stock
photographer, traveling the world as a boat crew for many years. Stude’s work has been shown
at institutions such as Lyceum Theatre Gallery (San Diego), One Big Truth Gallery (Santa
Monica), The Art Center of Northern New Jersey and Kauai Museum. Her films have participated
in film festivals on Kauai and in San Diego and in 2007, Stude published her book titled “In –
Sight.” Stude’s work has also been featured in numerous publications such as National
Geographic Traveler, Sea Frontiers and Cruising World and in books published by Prentice Hall
and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Publishing.

Lynne Yamamoto:
Lynne Yamamoto received a B.A. in Art from the Evergreen State
College in Olympia, Washington and a M.A. in Studio Art from New York University in 1991.
Traveling often between Hawaii and New England, Yamamoto’s art has received recognition
through its awards, grants and fellowships from institutions such as the Whitney Museum, New
York Foundation for the Arts, Asian-Cultural Council, Creative Capital Foundation Award, and
the Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Exhibitions of Yamamoto’s work have been
held at many venues locally, nationally and internationally and belongs to the collections of
public institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney
Museum of American Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Hawaii State Foundation on
Culture and the Arts as well as in private collections. Yamamoto is currently an Associate
Professor within the Smith College Art Department (Northhampton, Massachusetts).

Charles Yuen: Hawaii-born artist Charles Yuen currently resides in New York City and
was a recent recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. Solo exhibitions of his work have
been held in New York at the Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Art in General, Metaphor Contemporary
Art, LeoTony Gallery, and the Asian American Arts Center. Yuen has participated in many group
shows at venues such as the New York State Museum (Albany), Brooklyn Museum of Art and TCM’s
First Hawaiian Center. Publications such as Art in America, The New York Times and Time Out
have featured Yuen’s paintings.
