Mixed Media Works by Rosalinda Kolb, Barbara Okamoto and Deborah Young
January 27 – May 23, 2004
Honolulu artists Rosalinda Kolb, Barbara Okamoto and Deborah Young create layered, intimate artworks using materials such as pastel, watercolor, ink, collage and monotype.
Rosalinda Kolb's pastel compositions draw on her recent training in therapeutic massage, exploring the human desire for ritual activity and how that need is fulfilled in contemporary society.
Barbara Okamoto's mixed media works use layers of color and varying textures, creating atmospheric imagery that suggests veils, hidden agendas, secrecy and shrouds.
Combining monotype and collage, Deborah Young works intuitvely and attempts to capture the immediacy of color, light and form in organic, textural compositions.
