      JASON TERAOKA
Somewhere, 2005
acrylic on canvas
20 x 16 inches
Price: $1,200
Courtesy of the artist

Jason Teraoka was born in 1964 on the island of Kaua‘i and currently lives and works in Honolulu, where he is a member of the staff of The Contemporary Museum. An active participant in the island art scene, Teraoka recently had his first major solo exhibition at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa (Tokyo), Japan.

Teraoka’s work often consists of small, somewhat enigmatic vignettes of the vicissitudes of contemporary life, observed with a wry but affectionate sense of humor. The artist is often drawn to things that carry a certain patina of age–old cars, the films of Alfred Hitchcock, Japanese TV heroes.
